The video was shared by stock market trader Naresh Nambisan, who highlighted the significance of the operation: 'A surgeon in China successfully removed a lung tumor while being 5,000 km away. The doctor controlled the machine remotely from Shanghai, with the patient located in Kashgar. The operation took an hour,' he wrote.

Shanghai Chest Hospital, where the surgery took place, issued a statement emphasizing the significance of this milestone. According to the Shanghai municipality's information office, the success of the surgery showcases the clinical capabilities of domestically-made surgical robots, promising improved access to care for patients in remote and rural areas. Dr. Luo Qingquan, the leading surgeon, performed the operation with the support of a team and advanced robotic technology.
