Google Removed 10 Apps From Play Store, Do You Use Them?

Google has always taken various measures to address cybercrime, but the current situation involves a different issue. Recently, Google has initiated the removal of apps belonging to 10 companies in India, including some popular matrimonial apps, due to non-payment of service fees.

The reason behind this action is the refusal of these startups to comply with Google's service fee requirements. Despite their argument that such charges should not be imposed by Google, they failed to make the necessary payments. This dispute even escalated to the Supreme Court, where the startups sought to halt in-app payments. However, Google has now received approval to enforce these fees, leaving startups with no choice but to pay up or face removal of their apps. The Supreme Court has issued an order in favor of Google, denying relief to the startups in this matter.

Which Apps Were Removed By Google?

On Friday, the company removed dating apps including Bharat Matrimony, Christian Matrimony, Muslim Matrimony, and Jodii. The founder of Matrimony.com labeled it a grim day for the Indian Internet. Concerned founders of these companies remarked on the successive removal of their apps by Google.

These apps are accused of flouting Play Store policies, leading to strict action against them. While the companies have yet to comment openly on the issue, Google's actions indicate potential ramifications for their businesses. Consequently, there has been a sudden dip in the companies' shares.
