Instagram Reels And A Broken Tooth Lead To UP Siblings' Reunion After 18 Years
Kanpur: Rajkumari, a resident of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, scrolled through Instagram reels and recognized a familiar face. She was struck by the sight of a young man with a distinctive broken tooth, a feature she vividly remembered from her brother Bal Govind.
After leaving their home in Inayatpur village in Fatehpur to seek work in Mumbai 18 years ago, Govind lost touch with everyone and never returned home, despite making initial contact with his friends.

After falling ill in Mumbai, he boarded a train with the intention of returning home but ended up in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, instead of Kanpur. At the railway station, a man offered him a job in a factory for when he got better. As Govind’s health improved, he began to build a new life in Jaipur, married Ishwar Devi, and they had two children.
Govind’s broken tooth remained a constant in his life, and it was this feature that Rajkumari noticed on Instagram. He made reels showcasing different locations in Jaipur, and one reel with his familiar face showed up on Rajkumari’s Instagram feed.
With determination to confirm her suspicions, Rajkumari uncovered additional videos where she identified other details that aligned with her brother’s description. She reached out to Govind on Instagram, and their initial conversations soon blossomed into sharing cherished childhood memories.
During a phone call, Rajkumari begged her brother to come back home. Moved by her plea, Govind agreed and arrived in Rajkumari’s village on June 20, ending the family’s nearly two-decade-long anguish.
