The Karnataka government had previously banned the food coloring Rhodamine-B, commonly used in dishes like cauliflower Manchurian and cotton candy. Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao warned that vendors using these substances in their food stalls will face severe penalties.

Rao previously emphasized that food safety is a top priority for the state. More dishes will be inspected to check for coloring agents. He stated that people should be aware of what they are eating and the ingredients used. Restaurant owners must maintain hygiene standards, or they will face strict actions.
