LinkedIn Post Viral, HR Prohibiting Employees To Use Social Media At Work Hours

Sumit Mishra, a LinkedIn user, recently shared on the platform that a friend of his, Rishika, received a cautionary notice from her company's HR department. The notice highlighted Rishika's use of Instagram during office hours, alongside her engagement with Netflix, Naukri.com, and Ajio.com, prompting a reminder about the company's policies on personal internet usage during work hours.

The company's correspondence to her included a reminder: "Kindly recall, we issued a verbal caution just last week when you were observed watching Babil Khan interviews during work hours! Additionally, several colleagues have reported instances where you and Shreya have been seen taking coffee pouches, sugar sachets, Maggi, forks, and disposable plates from the pantry for personal consumption. It's important to emphasize that taking items from office supplies is against company policy."

This post was circulated two days prior and has garnered over 400 likes since its publication, with the count steadily increasing. Furthermore, it has elicited numerous comments, drawing various reactions from individuals who engaged with it.

Here's a glimpse of the reactions:

One person expressed, "I believe HR has a valid point. Taking small items without permission is not acceptable. Earning money hourly but squandering it is not justifiable."

Another contributor added, "That's indeed a challenging situation. It's commendable that HR clearly conveyed their concerns. Perhaps it's an opportunity to reassess how to maintain a balance between personal and professional time? Here's hoping for a smooth resolution!"

Yet another commenter remarked, "Clear communication is essential in such matters! The company compensates us for our work, not for indulging in personal activities. Engaging in theft of company property reflects a detrimental mindset."

Another individual chimed in, stating, "I agree with HR! Sumit Mishra. Engaging in theft, regardless of its extent, constitutes unacceptable conduct that erodes trust and integrity in the workplace."
