The Greater Noida Police has arrested a 35-year-old resident of Meerut, Zoya Khan, for allegedly indulging in 'call spoofing,' and threatening common people and police officials.

According to TOI reports, Khan used two software applications to make fraudulent calls to senior police officers and others. She was arrested in September, Central Noida DCP Shakti Mohan Avasthy confirmed while also citing the recovery of a SIM card used for her spoofing activities.

According to reports, Khan had recently called and threatened the SHO of Sector 142 police station in Noida, by impersonating a senior police official in a case.

The DCP revealed that Khan has a record of crime and has been imprisoned twice in the past for impersonating officers from different ministries.

The probe found that the calls were routed through a server located in Dubai.

The police have charged the two accused persons, Khan and Agarwal, under BNS Section 351(3) for criminal intimidation and under Section 66D of the IT Act for cheating by personation.
