Gaurav Sharan, a software engineer from Gurgaon, shared a post on social media platform X, showing his conversation with a scammer. The scammer pretended to be a representative from HDFC Bank and messaged Gaurav, claiming his HDFC Bank account was closed and that he needed to click on a link to update his PAN card number to reactivate it.

When Gaurav Sharan saw the message, he quickly realized it was a scam. He replied, "Okay, brother." The scammer told him to open the link and update his PAN number. Gaurav responded, saying, "Your website looks fake. I'm a software engineer and can help you redesign it."

Gaurav even offered to make the website look just like the HDFC net banking site for Rs 20,000. The scammer asked him for a sample. Gaurav shared a screenshot of their conversation and warned that one should never mess with a developer. His post has since gone viral on social media.

One social media user commented that this is turning a problem into an opportunity. Another suggested that Gaurav should have taken the Rs 20,000 and then blocked the scammer, effectively scamming the scammer. Someone else said Gaurav really had fun making fun of the scammer. Another person advised scammers to find a new method since everyone is becoming more aware, and now they might only find one or two victims after a lot of effort.
