'This Is Not Okay!', Top Executive Slams Bengaluru Airport Authorities For 'Unsanitary Practices' At Security Check

Bengaluru: A senior executive in Bengaluru calls out unsanitary practices at Bengaluru Airport where passengers were required to use same trays for keeping both their shoes and personal items like laptops and phones during security checks.

Managing director of Magniflex India Anand Nichani expressed his discomfort & frustration through social media encountering this issue after flying from Bengaluru to Delhi on August 12.

"The same trays that carry our muddy shoes are used for our personal items at airport security! This is NOT okay!" Nichani wrote on X

He emphasized on the improved hygienic practice and the need for dedicated trays for muddy shoes to maintain cleanliness and enhance the passengers' travelling experience.
Meanwhile, he also urged the government to implement this measure as a standard practice and to make it compulsory for every airport.

Airport Authority responds to hygiene concerns

Responding to Nichani's post, a Bengaluru Airport representative reassured him about hygiene and passenger experience as their top priorities. The airport official writes that they've positioned dedicated shoe trays adjacent to all of the X-rays for ease.

However, Nichani questioned the airport's commitment to hygiene and highlighted that he did not see any shoe tray near his security belt.

KIA wins award for Food & Beverage excellence

On a good note, the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru is India's first airport to have recieved seven awards at Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference and Awards. KIA's 080 Domestic Lounge at Terminal 2 also stood out earning the prestigious 'Airport Lounge of the Year' award.
