Travelers recently shared amusing, strange, and unexpected tales about items seized by airport security on Reddit, highlighting the importance of knowing what goods are permitted on trips without issue. While some comments were funny, others bordered on the absurd, making it clear that avoiding mistakes when packing is crucial for worry-free travel, whether it's for a family holiday or a business trip.

On a subreddit, one person posted about confiscated objects at the airport and asked fellow Redditors about their most intriguing, humorous, or strange stories regarding items that airport security seized from them.

A Redditor shared their personal experience, revealing that the most peculiar item they had to abandon was a honey pot. The topic garnered numerous comments as others chimed in with their own airport mishaps.

Someone recounted their experience, stating, 'We had approximately $50 worth of their amazing cheese spreads in our carry-on when we returned from Iceland. They were taken by security in Reykjavik. After going through security, we discovered more in the airport, so we bought a ton. When we changed aircraft in Dallas, that shitload was seized. My wife wept for sixty minutes. That day wasn't good.'

Another individual mentioned, 'They confiscated a candle that I owned.' A CANDLE, OF ALL THINGS!

Prepare to be startled by this one if you thought the previous example was strange. According to a passenger, airport security seized his copy of Dante Alighieri's Inferno. "I was looking through some suspected items held for inspection at Charlotte Airport in November 2001. I was reading Dante's Inferno for a class.

'I owned Spicebomb, a fragrance designed to resemble a grenade. A commenter stated, 'They confiscated it when I was leaving Gatwick.'

'Another commenter wrote, 'Poop-paper.' They requested that I open my carry-on while we were traveling to New Zealand. A bundle of paper with the word 'POOP' written on it was resting on my backpack. They seized it for destruction, claiming it was an animal product that could harm the environment in New Zealand. The woman handling the situation was kind and didn't judge me.'

'LA airport security insisted that we were importing food from outside the US,'  someone revealed. They emptied our large suitcase while keeping us waiting for two hours. Eventually, they proudly confiscated a dry tangerine that had probably been traveling in a corner of that bag for the last five years.

Another person said, 'My only souvenir from the Smithsonian space museum in Washington, DC, was some awesome slime that I picked out when I was a kid, probably when I was 11 or 12 years old. It was the saddest confiscated item.'
