Boarding schools are considered to be the homes of moral schooling and discipline. With strict rules and regulations, they mold the students into a person of good ethical conduct but sometimes the rules become quite tough, insensitive and impractical. One such rule came to light from a Chinese boarding school via internet. The school got soaked into discourse due to its bizarre rule as per which usage of washrooms wasn't allowed during late-night hours.
Boarding school like a jail
Actually, in a boarding school in China, a kid was insulted on the school premises and given a harsh punishment for using the washroom during late-night hours. When this incident caught the eyeballs on social media, it was strongly criticised and netizens compared it will a jail.
As a punishment, the student residing in the boarding school was asked to write a deep self-reflection letter on the incident and distribute a thousand photocopies of it to his schoolmates and teachers. He also got a deduction of five marks from his monthly discipline score.
Curfew hours after 10:45 pm
An unidentified teacher told the Beijing News that roaming or strolling of any student after 10:45 pm is strictly prohibited. Time after 10:45 hours are called curfew hours and if any student needs to use the washroom in curfew hours, permission from the hostel administration is required.

The boarding school which was supposed to be a pillar of discipline has tightened the grip to an extent that the students feel jailed. Taking the matter into cognisance, the educational authority has asked the institute to review its rules and regulations. It has also asked the school administration to pay the student a sum of 100 yuan as compensation to manage the cost of a thousand photocopies.
