The Israeli military has released new headcam footage of the daring operation where members of the Navy's elite Shayetet 13 commando squad arrived in armored trucks to free the prisoners. Tanks followed the commandos as they opened fire on Hamas insurgents. Shortly after, the soldiers secured a location to summon a helicopter approaching from the ocean.

The helicopter took off and departed from the Gaza Strip after the captives were freed, delivering them to the Sheba Medical Center, located close to Tel Aviv. Thus, their eight-month ordeal came to an end.

Israeli special forces from the IDF, the Shin Bet intelligence organization, and the Israeli police's elite counterterrorism unit initiated the daring rescue operation in the heart of the Gaza Strip's Nuseirat refugee camp. Targets included two Hamas-occupied facilities that housed the hostages.

An IDF commander who was crucial to the hostage rescue was killed in the mission. These days, Arnon Zamora is being praised as a hero.

Israeli men and women risk their lives on every rescue effort. Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Saturday on X, "We are devastated to share that Chief Inspector Arnon Zamora, commander and tactical operator in the Yamam (National Police Counter-Terrorism Unit), who was critically wounded in the operation to rescue hostages this morning, has succumbed to his wounds.
