It has been reported that the leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, had been killed after an airstrike made by Israel on the suburb of Dahieh, a suburb of southern Beirut, last September 27, 2023. His body was found apparently in one piece when discovered at the crash site with no direct wounds but said to have been caused by blunt trauma brought about by the explosion. According to reports, some 24 other Hezbollah members were killed as a result of this attack. The latest incident is the newest in a long series of steps escalating the Middle East war.

No Marks On Nasrallah's Body

Medical and security officials said Nasrallah's body was recovered with no apparent marks on it. He must have died from the shock of the blast. Residents said they heard a series of blasts when the Israeli warplanes attacked the Hezbollah command center, ripping apart several buildings in the area. The aerial bombing left a huge area of rubble measuring more than a soccer field, depicting the intensity of the attack.

Sat 13 Jan, the Israeli military released video showing F-15I warplanes that joined in the attack; however, the military has not disclosed the type of munitions used. In different reported versions, said aircrafts came loaded with 2,000-pound American BLU-109 penetrator bombs to destroy the Hezbollah stronghold.

Destruction To Hezbollah And Aim Of Israeli Military

The Israeli Defense Forces stated that Nasrallah was dead and that the operation was a resounding victory for their anti-Hezbollah campaign. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that killing Nasrallah is one of the necessary steps for Israel in order to finally fulfill its mission within the area, which is further complicated by recent tensions with Hamas.

He stressed that it would be a threat if Nasrallah continued to live because this man was considered one of the great organizers of Hezbollah's operation and is considered a person heading the influence of Iran in the region. He believed his kill would make residents of northern Israel go back home safely and release some hostages hostages held by Hezbollah.

International Reactions

U.S. President Joe Biden, too, expressed support for the action of Israel, citing that Nasrallah was responsible for the killings of many Americans in the years that passed. He, therefore, termed the airstrikes as "justice for his many victims", assuring the world that the U.S. stood committed to Israel's right to its defense against groups backed by Iran.

Drawing the Line President Biden said Nasrallah's role in the war got worse after Hamas's attack on October 7, which puts strategic context to his killing in broader hostilities against the Middle East. The president's statement reflected the alignment that the U.S. had and shared with Israel's military operations and aimed at keeping threats from Hezbollah off balance.
