Israeli Mother Killed In Jaffa Terror Attack While Protecting Her 9-Month-Old Son
A tragic incident unfolded near a train station outside of Tel Aviv, where a mother who sacrificed her life to protect her 9-month-old son was identified as one of the victims. Israel confirmed that Inbar Segev-Vigder shielded her son, Ari, during the terrorist attack in Jaffa on Tuesday, an act that ultimately saved his life. "There are no words. Only heartbreak," Israel posted on X, mourning the victims. Authorities reported that seven people in total were killed during the shooting, which happened just minutes before Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel, retaliating for the recent killings of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.

Details of the Attack
Two Palestinian men from Hebron, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, opened fire on a crowded light rail carriage. The attackers, who had no prior arrests, were shot and killed by security personnel and armed civilians at the scene. In the aftermath, paramedics treated 16 others who were injured in the attack.
Segev-Vigder's Legacy
Segev-Vigder, a Tel Aviv resident and fitness studio owner, was stepping off the train in Jaffa when she was gunned down. Her husband, Yaari Vigder, an Israeli reservist soldier, shared that their son Ari was safely tucked in a carrier that shielded him from the bullets. "For the rest of his life -- may he feel the same love he received from Inbar," he told Israel’s Channel 11.
Other Victims Identified
Other victims of the shooting include Revital Bronstein, 24, Shahar Goldman, 30, Nadia Sokolenko, 40, and Ilya Nozadze, 42. Sokolenko’s family shared the heart-wrenching account of waiting for her return home from grocery shopping when they learned she was one of the victims. Described as a "creative and caring mom" of a 6-year-old, she had moved to Israel from Moldova. Additionally, Greece’s foreign ministry confirmed that a Greek national living in Jerusalem was among the deceased.
Calls for Action
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. However, in response, Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called for strong retaliatory measures, including the deportation of the terrorists' families and the demolition of their homes.
