Lebanon: At least three people were killed and more than 100 injured on Wednesday when walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah, a Lebanese armed group, exploded across southern Lebanon and parts of Beirut. One of the blasts occurred near a funeral for victims of a similar explosion the previous day, when thousands of pagers detonated, wounding many Hezbollah fighters.

The recent explosion in the Bekaa region killed three people. These walkie-talkies were purchased by Hezbollah five months ago, around the same time the pagers were bought, according to a security source.

Israel's Involvement Alleged

Sources claim that Israel's spy agency, Mossad, planted explosives in the pagers that detonated earlier this week. Tuesday’s explosions killed 12 people, including two children, and injured around 3,000, many of whom were Hezbollah fighters. Iran's envoy to Beirut was also wounded.

Hezbollah's Response

In retaliation, Hezbollah launched rockets at Israeli artillery positions. This escalation has increased tensions, raising fears of a broader conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.

Investigation and Denials

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, has called for an independent investigation into the explosions. Meanwhile, a Taiwanese company, Gold Apollo, denied producing the pager devices involved in the attack, stating they were made by another company, BAC, in Hungary.
