According to an article in the well-known Pakistani newspaper Dawn, more than 18,000 children in East Punjab had contracted pneumonia in January alone, resulting in around 300 deaths.

The provincial administration has mandated the use of face masks, shortened class hours, and longer school vacations in response to the health issue. Nearly half of pediatric pneumonia deaths are related to air pollution, according to UNICEF.

According to reports, the Children's Hospital in Lahore receives hundreds of cases each day. The majority of kids admitted to the pediatric unit have lung strains and coughs. His respiration is laboring. The issue has become even worse due to the oppressive fog produced by excessive cold and pollution. There has been a decrease in government immunization rates as well.

Every winter, the smog in Pakistan's eastern megacities reaches some of the worst levels globally. According to medical professionals, rain often provides relief and absorbs pollutants; however, Pakistan has seen an exceptionally dry and frigid winter, making children more susceptible to respiratory diseases.
