Tragic Loss! Indian-Origin Woman Fatally Stabbed In London, Attacker Charged

On May 9, at nearly 11:50 am (London local time), a 22-year-old man stabbed to death a 66-year-old Indian-origin woman at a bus stop in north-west London. Following a hearing on Tuesday, he was charged with murder and remanded in custody.

Jalal Debella fatally stabbed Anita Mukhey, who worked part-time as a medical secretary for the National Health Service (NHS), at the Burnt Oak Broadway bus stop in the Edgware area of London last week. Debella attacked Mukhey in the chest and neck while she was waiting at the bus stop.

After the police were called, they arrested Debella on suspicion of murder in the Colindale area of north London on the same day. He faced charges for Mukhey’s murder as well as for possessing an offensive weapon.

The Metropolitan Police commented on the incident, stating that the accused appeared at the Old Bailey Court in London and would enter his plea of guilty or not guilty at the next hearing in the case scheduled for August, as reported by news agency PTI.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) informed the court that sharp force injuries to the front of the chest and neck were determined as the preliminary cause of Anita Mukhey's death.

Mukhey's family issued a statement via the police, describing her as a 66-year-old married mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family and also worked part-time as a Medical Secretary in the NHS. They requested privacy during this challenging time.
