In a press conference on Friday, NASA Astronaut Sunita Williams, currently stranded on the International Space Station (ISS), described it as her 'happy place' and expressed her love for being up in space. The press conference took place 250 miles above Earth's surface almost after a week, following Starliner's return to the planet.

Williams and Wilmore further expressed their intention to vote in the upcoming US Presidential Elections from the ISS, after their stay was prolonged till February 2025. The pair boarded the Boeing Starliner on June 5 for its first crewed mission and reached the space station on June 6. However, the starliner successfully returned to Earth without them on September 6, after more than 3 months.

Sunita Williams Describes Space As Her 'Happy place'

Sunita Williams noted. "That's how it works out in this business," via video press conference. Expressing her joy, the veteran astronaut remarked that it is her happy place and she loves being in space.

Additionally, she discussed her aim to complete the Starliner mission and return to Earth, adding that sometimes you need to focus on the next opportunity.

Williams also admitted feeling a bit nervous about not returning home straight away.

NASA Astronauts Confirm Ballot Request For Upcoming US Polls

NASA Astronauts informed about their request for a ballot to vote in the US Presidential Elections 2024, calling it a 'very important duty.'

The Indian-origin astronaut asserted that, "Voting is an important duty as citizens, and I’m excited about being able to vote from space."

Butch Wilmore also mentioned that as American citizens, voting is a crucial responsibility and NASA makes it very easy to fulfill that duty.

The US Presidential Polls are set to be held on November 5, 2024, between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
