Israel's military spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed that Iran had initiated numerous ground-to-ground missiles, including cruise missiles, with the majority intercepted outside Israeli borders. The onslaught, consisting of over 200 drones and missiles, inflicted minor damage to an Israeli military installation. However, Hagari stated that the Israeli defense system successfully intercepted most of the 200 drones and missiles launched by Iran, with the majority neutralized before penetrating Israeli airspace.

Israeli authorities vowed a "significant response" following the attack, while Iran justified its actions as retaliation for what it saw as Israeli aggression, pointing to an earlier strike on its Damascus consulate that resulted in the deaths of three senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, criticized Iran's assault, voicing profound concern over the possibility of heightened conflict and its wider regional repercussions. Concurrently, US President Joe Biden reiterated America's steadfast support for Israel, promising unequivocal backing amid the escalating tensions.
