BookMyShow Files Complaint, May Cancel Coldplay India Tickets Sold Unethically

As reported by News 18, in an effort to combat ticket scalping and black market sales for Coldplay's "Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025" in India, BookMyShow filed a First Information Report (FIR) on October 2, 2024. This action follows an initial proactive complaint made to the Mumbai Police on September 23, 2024, well before any formal allegations were made against the company. The FIR calls for an investigation into unauthorized ticket resales by individuals and platforms.

The spokesperson elaborated that BookMyShow has shared information about all resellers identified, including individuals selling tickets on social media platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp, as well as on digital platforms like Viagogo and Stubhub. The company is committed to monitoring ticket reselling activities and will continue to provide relevant information to the authorities to facilitate thorough investigations. Additionally, BookMyShow is considering canceling tickets sold through unethical channels.

BookMyShow's spokesperson emphasized that the company firmly opposes ticket reselling, which is illegal and punishable under Indian law. They clarified that BookMyShow has no ties with unauthorized ticket-selling platforms or individuals involved in reselling tickets for Coldplay's tour.

Despite rumors suggesting that Coldplay's India tour could be canceled due to legal issues, it has been confirmed that the shows will proceed as scheduled. The spokesperson noted that BookMyShow has been cooperating fully with police and regulatory authorities throughout the investigation, ensuring transparency and providing necessary information to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
