Director Imposes Ban On Film Over Teenagers' Crime Mimicry; Actors Also Face Adversity

Director's Decision To Ban The Film

It became so serious that director Stanley Kubrick had to make a major decision because he started receiving threats due to this film. Witnessing the rising teenage crime every day, the director decided to ban the film and wrote a letter to the censor board requesting them to impose a ban on the film.

Anthony Burgess's Novel

According to a report, this film was based on Anthony Burgess's novel 'A Clockwork Orange'. The film depicted elements such as black comedy, stress, violence, and crime, which influenced teenagers to emulate similar behavior. Director Stanley Kubrick was so impressed with the novel that he decided to adapt it into a film, which was subsequently made.

It is said that after watching the film, teenagers' crime rates increased. However, serious accidents also occurred during the shooting of this film. According to reports, lead actor Malcolm McDowell injured his eye during the beginning of the film's shooting, which caused him difficulty in seeing afterwards. However, his vision was completely restored after the film was made. Additionally, one actor in the film hit another actor so severely that his muscles were torn.

Several countries banned this film, including Spain, Singapore, South Africa, Ireland, Malta, and others. The film remained banned for 27 years, but the ban was lifted after the director Stanley Kubrick's death. During its release, the film garnered significant box office earnings. Moreover, the film received 4 Oscar nominations.
