Mouni Roy Stands by Smriti Irani After Election Defeat: 'Always With You'
Actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani on Tuesday lost to the Congress party candidate from the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency by a huge margin. After losing the election, he gets support from family members and close friends, including actor Mouni Roy.
A Friend In Need
After losing her seat, Smriti shared a message on her Instagram accepting her defeat and expressing her gratitude to the people who stood with her.
'Such is life... A decade of my life moving from one village to another, building a life, nurturing hope and aspirations, working on infrastructure - roads, naali, khadanja, bypass, medical college, and more,' wrote Smriti.
She continued: 'I will be eternally grateful to those who stood by me in defeat and victory. Congratulations to those who celebrated today. And for those asking, 'How's Josh?' I say - it's still high, sir.'

Her friends and fans showed her support in the comments. One such comment was made by his friend and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi co-star Mouni. 'Always with you,' Mouni wrote with a red heart emoji.
'Keep working, that's all,' commented actress Neena Gupta. Actor Sonu Sood also put a red heart emoticon in the comment box.
Actor Aashka Goradia showed her support for Smriti by writing, 'With you EVERY DAY! Nothing and nothing will stop you from doing good! Full strength.'

Smriti Loses Amethi Seats
Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Uttar Pradesh Amethi Smriti lost the seat to Congress leader Kishori Lal Sharma.
Kishori won a landslide victory in the Nehru-Gandhi family stronghold of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, defeating Irani by over 1.67 million votes. According to the Election Commission, Irani polled 3,72,032 votes and Sharma polled 5,39,228. The BSP candidate polled 34,534 votes.
In 2019, Smriti gained notoriety and was called the 'giant killer' when she defeated Congressman Rahul Gandhi by 55,120 votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He got 4,68,514 votes against the 4,13,394 votes of Rahul Gandhi who won the 2004, 2009, and 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
