After Puja Khedkar, Ex-IAS Officer Abhishek Singh Faces Scrutiny Over Disability Claim

Amid allegations that trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar submitted fraudulent disability certificates to secure her position, attention has shifted to another former bureaucrat's appointment under the disability category. Abhishek Singh, a 2011 batch IAS officer who resigned last year to pursue an acting career, is now facing scrutiny after his dance and gym videos became popular on social media. Many users have criticized Singh's videos, demanding increased transparency and accountability in the bureaucratic selection process.

Abhishek Singh asserted that he has a locomotor disability, which he cited to receive concessions during the UPSC selection process. In response to the accusations, Singh has stated that he is being targeted due to his support for reservations.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Abhishek Singh responded to the criticism, saying, "While I generally ignore criticism, I am addressing it now because my supporters have urged me to. Since I began advocating for reservations, I have been targeted by anti-reservationists who question my caste and my job. I want to clarify that all my achievements are the result of hard work and determination, not reservations."

The Centre has established a one-member committee to investigate the allegations against Puja Khedkar. Sources indicate that if Khedkar is found guilty, she could face dismissal from her position. Additionally, if the allegations of concealing information and misrepresentation are confirmed, she may also face criminal charges.
