Dalit families in Uttarakhand village, face ostracization after a discriminatory decree by the village panchayat over a drumming incident.

In a disturbing incident unfolding in Uttarakhand, Dalit families in Subhai village near the India-China border are facing ostracization following a discriminatory decision by the village panchayat. The controversy erupted when Puskar Lal, a member of the Dalit community, fell ill and couldn't perform his traditional role of playing drums at a religious event.

According to a report by PTI, the panchayat convened on July 14 in Chamoli district and subsequently decreed a boycott against all Dalit families in the village. Allegations suggest that these families have been systematically barred from utilizing village resources, including access to forest and water, purchasing goods from local shops, using vehicles, and even entering temples.

The situation has escalated with the filing of a police complaint at the Joshi Math police station, naming Ramkrishna Khandwal and Yashvir Singh as the individuals responsible for issuing the discriminatory orders.

PTI references a video purportedly showing the panchayat's directive, although its authenticity remains unverified by sources.

A member of the panchayat reportedly warned of severe repercussions if the community fails to comply with the ostracization order, further exacerbating tensions in the area.
