Deadly Lightning Strike Claims Seven Lives, Injures Three In Chhattisgarh

Chattisgarh: According to ANI reports, a deadly lightning struck Chattisgarh's Baroda Bazaar on Sunday, killing seven people and injuring three.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Baroda Bazaar), Abhishek Singh informed that the incident took place in Mohtara village, while they were heading back from the field. Following the heavy rainfall, they took refuge under a tree. Police has identified the deceased and the injured.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecasted heavy rainfall for Chattisgarh today.

Similar Incidents In Past Months

Last month, Lightning strikes killed three women and left seven others injuries in Chhattisgarh. According to police, the victims were struck in their paddy fields after the sudden lightning discharge.

Two women also lost their lives, while seven other females sustained injuries in Chandamuda village under the jurisdiction of Pathalgaon police station. A similar incident of lightning claimed one life in Bagbahar area previously.
