Posting on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), the Bhojpuri superstar expressed, "I express my heartfelt gratitude to the top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The party trusted me and declared me as the candidate from Asansol, but due to some reason, I will not be able to contest the elections from Asansol.”

Pawan Singh's tweet follows a day after BJP MP Jayant Sinha requested the party to release him from electoral responsibilities, indicating his reluctance to play an active role or seek a ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sinha's announcement coincided with party leader Gautam Gambhir's implication of his departure from electoral politics, made just hours earlier.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, singer Babul Supriyo secured victory in this constituency on a BJP ticket, defeating TMC's Moon Moon Sen. However, two years later, Supriyo resigned from the seat and switched allegiance to the TMC. Subsequently, in 2022, Shatrughan Sinha emerged victorious in the Lok Sabha elections from Asansol.

On Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealed its much-awaited initial list of 195 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
