Monsoon has arrived in many major cities across the country, and Mumbai is experiencing severe effects. After some light rain on Wednesday, heavy showers began on Thursday evening and continued for several hours. This has caused significant waterlogging on the roads, bringing Mumbai's traffic to a halt.

Heavy rain has hit Marol, Lower Parel, Dadar, Bandra, Kurla, Mulund, Malad, Bhandup, Colaba, Kandivali, Goregaon, Navi Mumbai, and Panvel. In some areas, traffic has come to a complete stop, and in many others, there are long-distance traffic jams. People are taking more than 2 hours to travel from CSMT railway station to Parel, and it is taking 2.5 hours to go from BKC to Santacruz.

Due to 12 hours of continuous rain, 40-70 mm of water fell in Mumbai. Dahisar, Borivali, Andheri West, Vile Parle, Santacruz, Marol, Kurla, Ravalli, Colaba, Nariman Point, and Ghatkopar received the most rain. From 8 am to 8 pm on Thursday, the city recorded 25.52 mm of rain. In Colaba, it rained 47 mm from 8 am on Wednesday to 8 am on Thursday.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that Mumbai received heavy rainfall on Thursday because of strengthening western winds. A cyclonic storm forming over Gujarat is expected to bring more rain to Mumbai. However, the overall rainfall in June will be below normal.

Rain will continue in Mumbai on Friday and Saturday, with a chance of heavy rain again on Sunday. A yellow alert has been issued in many areas due to the rain. The heavy rain has caused temperatures to drop rapidly, ranging from 24.5 degrees Celsius to 31.6 degrees Celsius.
