Married To Five, In Touch With 50; Bhubaneswar Man's Shocking Matrimonial Fraud
In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, a shocking story of marriage and deception on a matrimonial site has emerged that might surprise you. A man managed to marry five women by tricking them and was also in contact with around 50 other women for marriage. This is just one of many stories of cheating on matrimonial sites.
After two women filed complaints, the police set up a trap that led to the arrest of the cunning criminal. The accused, identified as 34-year-old Satyajit Samal, was caught. He would pretend to be a police officer to lure women, blackmail them after marriage, and extort large sums of money. The police recovered a car, a bike, Rs 2.10 lakh, a pistol, and marriage contracts from him.
Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda stated that after receiving complaints from two women, the police created a team led by a female officer. Thanks to this team's successful efforts, they were able to arrest the fraudster. During questioning, the accused admitted to marrying the two women. Among his five wives, two are from Odisha, and one each is from Kolkata and Delhi.
The police have identified four of his wives, but they are still searching for information about the fifth. They have frozen three of his bank accounts. Originally from Jajpur district in Odisha, he currently lives in Bhubaneswar. He targeted widows and divorced women on matrimonial sites, promising marriage and then demanding cash, bikes, or cars.
When the women asked for their money back, he threatened them with a gun. The police discovered that he was chatting with 50 women on a matrimonial site by checking his mobile phone. The investigation against him began after a woman filed a complaint at the Capital Police Station in February. One of the two complainants said she met Satyajit Samal through a matrimonial site.
They began chatting regularly and, after a few days, started meeting in person. He pressured her into having a physical relationship by promising marriage and asked her for money to buy a car. The victim took out a personal loan from the bank and bought him a car worth Rs 8.15 lakh. She also gave him Rs 36 lakh for a business venture. The second complainant reported that he had taken Rs 8.60 lakh and a bike from her.
The second victim also took out personal loans from various banks to meet his demands. The accused used the money he swindled to live a luxurious lifestyle. The police officer expressed hope that more women would come forward after his arrest, as there may be more victims. After cheating a woman, he would flee to Dubai, spend a few days enjoying himself there, and then return to the country to find his next target.
