Amid ongoing seat-sharing negotiations in Kerala, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) is reportedly exerting pressure on the Congress party to allocate them three seats instead of two. The IUML is specifically interested in contesting from Wayanad due to the significant presence of Muslim voters in the constituency.

In addition, the Communist Party of India (CPI) has nominated Annie Raja, the wife of the party's general secretary D Raja, as a candidate from Wayanad. This move poses a challenge for the INDIA alliance, as having a prominent leader's spouse contesting against Rahul Gandhi could potentially create a delicate situation.

According to media reports, CPI general secretary D Raja stated that there had been no discussion in the party's national executive meeting about requesting the Congress to vacate the Wayanad constituency. D Raja was quoted saying, "Wayanad is one of the four seats that CPI got as part of the seat-sharing agreement within LDF." In the 2019 elections.
