Spelling Blunder At Airport Leads To Humiliation And Arrest, Shocking Truth Uncovered

At Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, a small spelling error involving the letter ‘A’ caused major trouble for a passenger. What started as public humiliation at the airport eventually led to the passenger's arrest. When this spelling mistake was investigated, it revealed a case that surprised the Bureau of Immigration, Delhi Police, and various airport agencies.

The Passenger: Rinku from Haryana

The incident involved Rinku, a resident of Gokalpura in Bhiwani district, Haryana. On the night of August 21-22, Rinku arrived at Terminal 3 of IGI Airport to board a flight to Kuwait via Bahrain. After completing the check-in process, Rinku proceeded to the Bureau of Immigration counter, where he submitted his Seaman’s Book and Continuous Discharge Certificate-cum-Seafarer Identity Document (CDC) to the immigration officer for inspection.

The Discovery: Discrepancies in Dates and Spelling

During the inspection, the immigration officer noticed discrepancies in the dates listed on the CDC. The issue date of the CDC was recorded as July 15, 2024, while the engagement dates were listed as September 12, 2022, and November 4, 2022. Additionally, the CDC, issued on July 15, 2024, mentioned a discharge date of June 26, 2023, and April 2024. These conflicting dates raised suspicion for the immigration officer. Then, as the officer noticed the name of the port, their doubts were confirmed.

The Consequence: Misplaced ‘A’ Leads to Arrest

The port name on Rinku’s CDC was written as "KNDALA," whereas the correct spelling of the port, Kandla, is "KANDLA." By this point, the immigration officer was convinced that Rinku’s CDC and Seaman’s Book were forged, and he was attempting to leave the country illegally. After a preliminary interrogation, the Bureau of Immigration handed Rinku over to the IGI Airport Police.

Ongoing Investigation: Three Arrests Made So Far

According to DCP Usha Rangnani of IGI Airport, based on a complaint from the Bureau of Immigration, an FIR has been registered against Rinku under sections S 318(4), 336(3), 340(2), & 61(2) of the Indian Penal Code. Rinku has been arrested. A special team, led by Inspector Sumit, was formed to investigate the case. As part of this investigation, two more suspects, Ankit Shehrawat and Amit Kumar, were arrested from Charkhi Dadri, Haryana. The investigation is ongoing.
