Teen Wins Over Crocodile After 30 Minutes Of Heroic Fight Causing 3 Bites, 1 Fracture

A boy was dragged into the Chambal River by a crocodile when he went to drink water. The boy fought with the crocodile for about half an hour and survived; however, the crocodile bit him in two places on his thigh and arm, and his arm got fractured during the struggle. He is now being treated in the hospital.

The incident occurred in Piparani village of Sheopur district's Raghunathpur Madhya Pradesh police station area. On Sunday afternoon, 17-year-old Nihal Singh Rao of Piparani village had gone to the Chambal River to graze his buffaloes, as was usual with him. Feeling thirsty, he went to the river to drink water. While he was drinking, a large crocodile that was lying in wait pulled him suddenly into the water.

The sudden attack of the crocodile made Nihal stunned, yet he did not get panicked and tried to fight back in the water. He wrestled with the crocodile for half an hour. Some shepherds standing on the seashore a little far from him became aware of the situation and hastened towards him. They flogged the crocodile with sticks to save Nihal from his clutches.

The crocodile had held Nihal twice on the thigh and once on the arm. Injured Nihal was admitted to the district hospital for treatment and he is still under care. His condition is now stable and out of danger.

According to Phool Singh Kodia, the Deputy manager of the National Chambal Sanctuary, they came to know about the incident. He added that they told the villagers to make sure the injured boy gets treated right away and promised that help would be given to him.
