Former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina Expected To Land In Delhi At 5 PM Amid Political Turmoil: Reports
Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's flight is expected to arrive in Delhi around 5 pm. The aircraft is currently in Indian airspace. Earlier today, Sheikh Hasina resigned from her position as Bangladesh's Prime Minister and departed from Dhaka.
According to the media reports, her plane, an Air Force C-130, passed Gaya and was approaching Varanasi at 4:15 pm. Reports indicate that Hasina might be heading to Delhi or continuing to the UK via India.
Facing mass protests for days, Hasina left Dhaka on August 5. She first flew to Kurmiltola by helicopter and then possibly took an aircraft. The BSF has issued a high alert, and the Director General has arrived in Kolkata.
Bangladesh Army Chief Waker-uz-Zaman announced that an interim government will be formed in Bangladesh. "PM Hasina has resigned; an interim government will run the country. We will restore peace. We ask citizens to stop the violence. We will investigate all the killings over the past few weeks," Waker-uz-Zaman said in his address to the nation.
